    What We Do

    Geothermal Exploration with OpendTect

De-risking geothermal projects through detailed subsurface characterization — from regional screening to reservoir-scale analysis.

Geothermal energy is a pillar of the energy transition. dGB Earth Sciences provides the tools and expertise to de-risk geothermal projects by enabling detailed subsurface characterization — from regional screening to reservoir-scale analysis.

Our platform supports the full geothermal workflow: seismic data conditioning, fault and fracture interpretation, reservoir property estimation, and ongoing monitoring. Machine Learning accelerates each step, reducing interpretation time and increasing confidence.

Low Unit Cost (LUC) Geothermal Development

    Low-enthalpy geothermal, made economic.

dGB is a fan of the Low Unit Cost (LUC) concept, developed by Geothermie Groep Nederland (GGN) for harvesting low-enthalpy geothermal energy. LUC installations target temperatures of 60–90°C and enable economic development from smaller-scale projects and lower-quality aquifers — opening up geothermal heating for domestic use and greenhouses.

    Cost-effective development of low-enthalpy reservoirs
    Targets 60–90°C temperature ranges
Suitable for domestic heating and greenhouse applications
Reduces financial risk by first drilling a pilot hole
Doublet is designed after pilot hole tests
Focus on longevity, reduced maintenance costs, and optimizing reservoir potential
Clusters of LUCs ensure security of heat supply
    Key Capabilities

    Fault & Fracture Analysis

Identify permeable pathways and flow barriers, and assess the risk of induced seismicity using dip-steered attributes, fault likelihood, and ML-based fault detection.

    Reservoir Characterization

Predict porosity, permeability, and temperature distribution using AI-driven inversion and SynthRock stochastic modeling.

    Seismic Attribute Analysis

Utilize OpendTect's unique seismic attribute engine to understand lithology, facies, and structural controls on geothermal reservoirs.

    Site Selection & Screening

Use Pseudo-3D workflows to create 3D volumes from 2D seismic for early-stage regional assessments.
