Loading 2D Data in OpendTect: Simpler Than You Think!
Starting a project in OpendTect often begins with loading seismic data in SEG-Y format. For 3D projects, this is straightforward as you only need to scan and import a single file. But what about 2D data, which can consist of multiple SEG-Y files? Good news: you can set up or add 2D data in a single streamlined step. Here’s how:
1. Place all your 2D SEG-Y files in one folder. 2. Scan (or import) the first file. 3. Verify that X, Y coordinates are present in the headers. 4. Specify the Coordinate Reference System. 5. Replace the Linename of the first file with a “*”. 6. Scan (import) all lines in one go
To save disk space, you should keep the data in SEG-Y format and store these files in the project folder. If you used the files to create a project, move them into the project folder before importing.
