⬆️ Bayesian Facies Classification in OpendTect’s LTrace Inversion Suite 'LIS'
Following up on last week’s post about LIS for OpendTect, we’re pleased to highlight another new module now available in this commercial plugin, developed by our partner LTrace Geosciences.
The Bayesian Facies Classification module enables quantitative facies prediction by estimating the most likely facies model together with facies probability maps, helping interpreters explicitly assess subsurface uncertainty.
Using pairs of seismic attributes combined with well-log data, facies classification is performed based on Bayesian posterior probability. Prior facies proportions are combined with bivariate conditional probabilities derived from the wells, and the final facies model is defined by the maximum posterior probability at each location.
