3 D Chronostratigraphy

Accurate auto-tracking of “all” horizons in a seismic volume is the holy grail of seismic interpretation. A detailed set of chronostratigraphic horizons is not only the key to unravel the depositional environment using sequence stratigraphic principles. The same set improves the accuracy of geologic models and thus the results of seismic inversion and history matching processes. More horizons means better models means more accurate results! An example of how Acoustic Impedance inversion can be improved by constructing the low frequency model with more horizons is shown in one of our studies
The proposed project to improve the data-driven 3D chrono-stratigraphy consists of four components:
- Improving and extending existing algorithms.
- Implementing editing capabilities.
- Developing new work flows.
- Testing on real data.
