Due to our R&D attitude we have a natural bond with universities. We strive to stimulate research and education through involvement in MSc and Ph.D. projects. Many universities worldwide use OpendTect, the Open Source part of our seismic interpretation system, to teach courses and for research purposes. In addition, we offer free academic licenses to universities for all commercial (closed source) plugins for OpendTect.
"It's great working with dGB for R&D and MSc student projects."
Dr. Roger Clark - School of Earth & Environment, University of Leeds.
Universities can get free access to the commercial OpendTect-plugins (Dip-steering, Neural Networks, SSIS, CCB (by dGB) and Workstation Access, Seismic Coloured Inversion, Seismic Spectral Blueing (by ARK CLS), Deterministic & Stochastic inversion (by Earthworks & ARK CLS)) by simply signing an Academic agreement. An Academic license can be used for academic purposes but not for commercial exploitation. In return dGB and the software should be acknowledged where appropriate and relevant research results should be shared when possible. The scheme has become very popular because of the Open Source character of OpendTect.
